FA Cup Match Report

Arsenal defeated Everton 4-1 in the FA Cup QF and booked a trip to Wembley where they play defending Champions Wigan Athletics for a place in the final. It was a great response to the defeat at Britannia stadium against Stoke City. The victory also saw Mesut Ozil get back in form and also find the back of the net for the Gunners opening goal.
The match started brightly with Ozil netting in the 7th minute with assist coming from Santi Cazorla. But the toffees found their way back in the match with a lightning break finished by Chelsea Loanee Romelu Lukaku. And the score stayed 1-1 till HT.
After the break, both the sides continued the search for winner in what seemed to be an even game till the time Giroud replaced Sanogo. Giroud's injection improved the quality of gunners attack which suddenly seemed to have more purpose and determination. Gunners kept going forward and created more pressure on toffee's defense which also resulted in Everton conceding a penalty when Man City Loanee Gareth Barry fouled Oxlade-Chamberlain and it proved to be the very crucial moment of the game. Arteta converted the penalty but the referee ordered a retake for Giroud's encroachment. And Arteta coolly converted once again winning the battle of wits with the keeper Joel Robles. And Arsenal controlled the game since then.
Gunners didn't stopped and kept going forward which resulted in getting them the 3rd goal finished by Giroud. And a Superb 'One touch passing football' Counter-attack resulted in another goal for Giroud and 4th for Arsenal assisted by Özil. The game finished 4-1 and thus booking their place in the Semis.
Özil's performance in the game earned him man of the match reward which will help him in silencing his critics. And this game will also give Gunners the serious hope of Silverware when you know that they are best team left in the tournament.
