Walcott contract saga with Arsenal and other roundup

In the ongoing contract saga between Walcott and Arsenal, there is a new twist. There has been some false news that the pacy forward has had a bust up with Wenger - hardly anyone had heard of it before including me. Theo took to social media and cleared the air "Reports about contract demands and bust-ups with the boss are complete nonsense."

Talking more of contract, he said "There have been no contract talks as yet and my current focus is on doing my best for Arsenal." His contract runs till June 2016 and he's being linked with a switch to Liverpool and Manchester City in the coming summer.

He is 26 years old and his priority this time is not money but game time which he has found hard to get under Wenger since his return from injury. He faces competition from Sanchez, Chamberlain, and Welbeck for a starting berth. The main reason for that has been his underwhelming performances when presented with an opportunity.

He game mainly consists of runs behind the defences. He starts on right wing but is often found in CF position waiting for a goal-scoring chance rather than creating one. Therefore, he doesn't contribute as much to the play as his competitions do. Though he is an outright attacker but his defensive work-rate is also a reason for his time spent on bench.

So he has two months to prove himself worthy of another contract otherwise if he continues in same vein, then Wenger would surely cash on him.

Moving on, Arsenal has let three youth prospects let go on loan to lower league sides for game-time. Semi Ajayi has joined Cardiff City on loan till end of the season which will also coincides with his contract expiry with the gunners.

Chuba Akpom has joined Championship side Nottingham Forest. He was linked with a move to Norwich City but he chose Forest instead. The 19 year old is rated highly at Arsenal and has made 7 appearances for the first team this season. He is too good to play with U21s but not good enough for Gunners. Gaining more experience of regular first team football should help him up his level.

Finally, young play making midfielder Jack Jebb was sent back to Stevenage for his second inninngs. He had a spell there in earlier part of season but a lengthy lay-off due to injury forced him to return for treatment. Now he is back.
