Arsenal Roundup: Pre season plans and injury updates

Arsenal has partially revealed their pre-season plans for the coming summer. They announced participation in the Barclays Asia trophy to be held in Singapore along with Everton, Stoke City and Singapore XI. The tournament will be played on two Matchdays 15 July and 18 July. It has a knock-out format with a third-place playoff match which ensures 2 games for all the teams.

When Arsenal visited Asia in Summer 2013, they played in Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan but it will be first time in Wenger Era that they will go to Singapore. They last visited this country in 1991. In the previous Asian tour, Le Professeur unearthed the academy gems in form of Zelalem, Gnabry, and Akpom. All of them went onto make first team debut in the season. This time around, the trio will be eager to present their case for consistent first team football.

Meanwhile, there has been some bad news coupled with good ones regarding injuries. There are reports that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled for upto 4 weeks due to Hamstring injury suffered against Manchester United. He was subbed off after 51 minutes of play at Old Trafford when he started crippling and sat on the turf. (Some hope for Walcott to get more game time in his recession period on pitch.)

The good news is that Flamini is back in training and could be available for the game on Saturday against West Ham United. Jack hasn't joined him yet but should be back sooner rather than later. Gabriel who got hamstring problem against QPR will join training latest by Monday and should be available for UCL tie against Monaco.

   That's all for today.
