Hello folks, Its Matchday! Arsenal face Tottenham Hotspurs in their next EPL clash at White Hart Lane today. Both the clubs share a century old and a never ending rivalry which has a place amongst the best in this sport making it one of the most intriguing fixture of the season. Their eventful history has seen some of the best matches in past few years and this time its not going to be any different with both the teams playing their best football since August.
At the moment, Gunners are one of the most in form team in the league. They are riding on a run of five consecutive wins in all competitions with four clean sheets and scoring 15 goals in the process while conceding just two. If you consider record of the last 15 matches, its still impressive with 12 wins and just 2 losses. In that run, they have registered victories against heavyweights like Dortmund and Manchester City and were just unlucky to hold on to win against Liverpool at Anfield by conceding an injury time equaliser.
What's more impressive about their recent run is the cohesion in the performance and their free-flowing playing. And with form of Özil, Santi and Giroud, they are looking as threatening as ever. Every player of the team on pitch is in great form. With likes of Ospina, Monreal, Coquelin, Bellerin including defensive partnership of Mertesacker and Koscielny performing at their best.
All of them have adapted their game as per the team's style especially the attackers. Santi has added defensive steel to his play making style, Özil has adapted to perform on the flanks in the new formation and Giroud has worked on his movements and flexibility of play which was evident in last game with Wenger starting Özil and Walcott on flanks. Both the players with likes to drift in middle making us to lose the width. But Giroud kept on moving out to widen the play. And both the full-backs also covered this aspect by advancing up the pitch and delivering crosses. Overall, it was a good team performance.
Moving on, the Spurs are also playing their best football of recent times. They have unearthed a gem in Harry Kane who has created a great chemistry on the pitch with Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen. They both have been deadly together in past few weeks. But Spurs are not just about this duo. They are also performing as a unit like their superior neighbours. They have Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb in midfield with Chadli and Lamela performing from the flanks. With their team play, they thrashed Chelsea 5-2 at the Lane. That's the highlight of their season which they got on DVDs.
But no matter how much they improve, their playing XI still looks inferior on the pitch when comapred to the Gunners. And just to inform you, their last win against us came in the Bale Age when they won 2-1. Since then we have played them 4 times winning thrice last season and drawing once 1-1.
Finally Playing XI. Wenger is unlikely to make changes in the winning team. But there will be changes on the bench with Akpom making way for Welbeck. Despite of Sanchez's desire to play with hamstring injury, Wenger is not going to use him today. That's all what I expect.
Last words. Its going to be a one hell of a match. Do not miss it. Arsenal will win 2-1.
