Arsenal lost 2-1 to Tottenham at White Hart Lane after putting up one of the worst performance of the season since defeat at Dortmund. This loss pushes us to 6th in the standings with 42 points, a point and two places behind the Spurs.
Wenger made one change in the playing XI with Welbeck coming in place of Walcott and Akpom retaining his place on the bench. No other surprise with Sanchez missing from the squad as expected.
Match kicked-off with Spurs firing on all cylinders. But they fell behind courtesy of Mesut Özil's strike which was against the run of play. They kept on going forward but didn't found the equaliser in the first half.
Second half started but there was no improvement from the Gunners part. They continued in the same mediocre way and Harry Kane made full use of it scoring a second half brace to overturn the deficit.
It was a collective failure from the team. Past weeks heroes namely Santi and Giroud were not up to the mark and struggled to get going. Our defense also put up an error-strewn performance which cost us the game. All in all, it was a bad result at an unfortunate time. We were seemed to be building the momentum but now its all gone!

Moving on to reactions from the Arsenal camp, this is what they had to say.
Arsene Wenger
On the game...
We defended well. We scored early but I think going forward, we didn’t produce enough. When we went forward, we always looked dangerous to score but were we too focused to defend our goal? I think so. I believe that we made too many technical mistakes compared to our usual level, because of Tottenham in the middle of the park. They put us under pressure and we lost some balls we are not used to losing.

On losing...
It leaves us with a big disappointment to swallow first and then to prepare for the next game. We have played two more away games than Spurs, who have played 13 at home and 11 away. We have played 13 away and 11 at home. It’s down to our home form now - we know we can win away from home but it will be a battle until the end. It has been every year with Spurs. We just have to focus on us, because there are many teams fighting to get in the top four.

On next game coming soon on Tuesday...
Yes it’s good. If you respond well, it’s very good. We play at home against Leicester, a team who fight not to go down. We have to recover from the disappointment and be ready to respond very quickly.

On Loss...
The boys are devastated to lose the game and it’s not nice for us to come here and lose the derby. It’s a massive game for the whole club, the fans and it’s something that we’re really disappointed about.

On Regret and Disappointment
We came here with good confidence and we thought that we could get the three points today. We went ahead, started well and then tailed off towards the end. As a team, going forward we didn’t do as well as we could have done and they took advantage of that. It was really disappointing and on a personal level it was difficult for me to get back in the swing of things after being out for a few weeks.

That's end of this sad chapter. Let's hope we recover very soon and start another run again.
