It's Matchday Folks! Arsenal take on Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium today riding on a run of 4 consecutive wins. And it seems like they have finally found the stability which was found wanting in first half of the season.
In the last 14 games played, Arsenal's record stands fantastic with 11 wins including against the likes of Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, 2 losses and 1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. This is evidence of the momentum that the team is enjoying at the moment. Besides, they are also boosted by the return of key players from injury like Özil, Walcott, Koscielny, Ramsey and finding an unlikely hero in form of Francis Coquelin. Other players namely Rosicky, Monreal, Ospina and Bellerin have also shone when given an opportunity to do so. All in all, everything is going perfect for mighty Gunners at the moment.
On the other hand, the villans are going through a barren run. They are 16th in the table and are going suffering a severe goal drought courtesy of injuries in their attacking department. After 22 league games, they have only netted 11 times. Currently, It's one of the worst record in England across all the divisions! But now they seems to be approaching the end of tunnel. Their new signing Carles Gil and Andy Weiman both scored in their FA Cup win in last round. Plus, their main striker Christian Benteke is also back and once again there is hope of goals amongst them. If I am not wrong, then I think he scored in both the league meetings with us last season. Let's see if he can get anything today.
Moving on to playing XI, Wenger is likely to stick with the same team that emerged victorious against the reigning Champions Manchester City with Injured Ox and Sanchez making way for now fit Walcott and Özil. Though Rosicky was great in FA Cup win vs Brighton, but there are questions of where and how he will feature in Wenger's line-up.
Finally what to expect from this game? 1. Arsenal's dominance in possession. 2. Villan's defensive set-up & counter-attacking football and finally 3. 2 or 3 goals with a win for the gunners.
Enjoy the game!
