Arsenal visit Wembley with hope of ending their title drought this evening by beating Hull City. No one doubts the quality of the Gunners but after this long drought, there is some uncertainty among the fans and other enthusiasts of the game. Its not just for Gunners, but for the hull city tigers as well, as they have not won anything since 1966!!! This very same thing is applicable to managers as well. Managers of both the team have a similar trajectory.
On one hand, we have Wenger. He has not won anything since 2005. Though he reached Champions League final in 2006 and more recently Carling Cup final in 2011, but he was unfortunate both the times. On the other hand we have Bruce, he has not won anything in his 16 year long manager career. Though he had varied degree of success with many clubs he worked with, but silverware eluded him. Its sure for tonight any one of the both will have the wait ended.
This similar record puts both the teams in similar mindset but Arsenal have momentum. They are breeming with confidence and belief after registering five victories out of five in the league since the semis and on the Hull's part, they only earned 1 point out of 15 in the same time period. And in that run, they both met at KC Stadium where Arsenal won 3-0. And previously in December, Gunners defeated them 2-0 at the Emirates. So Arsenal clearly seem to have a mental edge over their opponents.
Team News: Arsenal have a complete squad this time with Walcott being the only exception. There's doubt over Vermaelean and Oxlade-Chamberlain, but both of them are expected to be available for selection. And there's a question mark for the keepers starting berth but I think Fabianski will get the nod. So the team will look something like this:
Fabianski; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta, Ramsey; Santi Cazorla, Özil, Podolski: Sanogo
Substitutes: Szczesny, Jenkinson, Monreal, Vermaelean/Kallstrom, Giroud, Wilshere, Flamini
Let's enjoy the Game and Hope for the Cup!!!
