Arsenal Presser: Wenger talks Chelsea, Mourinho, and more

Fresh from Wembley win against Reading in the FA Cup semifinals, Arsenal now face challenge of Chelsea in Premier League on Sunday. Ahead of the clash, Wenger faced the press to fulfil his media duties. Here's a briefing of what he said.

Team News
A big uncertainty clouds the availability of Mertesacker. He hasn't trained yet. Chamberlain as well. Though Arteta is back in full training, he is not ready for the action.
Wenger said that BFG is the first choice defender but Gabriel will play if he doesn't recover.

Rivalry with Mourinho
They have faced each other twice but the Frenchmen is yet to taste a win against the Portuguese. He is hoping for a first in XIII meeting. "Sunday's match not about relationship between managers."
"It is about watching a good game. "We have not always lost, come close to beating them."
"Chelsea been efficient on set pieces, counter attacks and we have to be ready for that."
"They are the most consistent team. Defensively strong. We will adapt to whatever they do and find a solution to every problem we face."

Facing big team
Arsenal has had a dismal record against big teams. But the story has changed since turn of the year. He sounded confident. "We have passed many tests recently."
"We have another test on Sunday against Chelsea that we want to pass.
"We have an opportunity to show our improvement is consistent. Our first target is to continue to win and strengthen our position."

Title Challenge
Its all but lost, and Wenger knows that well. "There was a turning point last week with Manchester United not beating Chelsea. Now we can get closer to Chelsea on Sunday."
"We had a disturbed start to the season but since January we have done very well. We could do with 10 more games!"

Return of Cult Fabregas
Once a Gunner and loved by all, now he is a subject of hatred among those same gooners. He returns to his old hunting ground for the first time since switching loyalty. And he is all but certain to face unwelcoming fans at the Emirates. Wenger has asked for respect for the blue. "I want every player to be respected." He was quizzed on regret of re-signing him but he had a different answer "My regret is him leaving here."

PFA Hazard/Sanchez?
Both the players have been selected for Player of the Year award. Statistically Sanchez has been better but Hazard has good too. Wenger gave his opinion on both the players. "Sanchez has adapted very well. It's his first season so he will compete very closely with Hazard for Player of the Year."
Wenger was keen to sign the Belgian before he moved to Stamford Bridge and he had praise for him as well "Everybody would agree that Hazard had a great season. He's found maturity that he didn't have before."
My vote goes to Sanchez. That's all.
