Giroud does it for Arsenal again

Like I said in the previous post, Giroud was the man to watch against the Magpies. And he was indeed spectacular in the first half when he scored 2 goals in 4 minutes (9 goals in last 9 matches) to hand an eventually healthy lead to Arsenal.

But he was unfortunate again to miss on his first hattrick in Arsenal colours. He had more than 60 minutes to complete it but it was just not the day. However, there was a cross from Sanchez before half time headed wastefully by Ramsey which might have been enough for him to completed the hattrick.

The second half was Newcastle all the way as the Monaco hangover played its part. Magpies pulled one back through Sissoko and kept on going forward to get the equaliser. But Wenger's men held it firm and were determined to take all the 3 points back to North London. In that moment against the run of play, Bellerin got forward and tried to feed HFB with cross which was intercepted (rather than saved) by Tim Krul who used his hands to do so. Nonetheless, the Frenchman would be more than happy with this MOTM performance and the hard fought win.

With this brace, he has taken his goals tally to 17 (all comps) this season equalling the stats from his maiden campaign with the Gunners. He is joint 5th with Sanchez in the league netting 13 times in total. This number is absolutely incredible when considered the time he spent on sidelines with injury and suspension.

He has at least 9 more games (max 10) to grow those numbers and end the season high on personal note as well as for Arsenal with possibly the FA Cup trophy as the prize.
