Arsenal Presser: Wenger talks Newcastle, Away Goals and Title chances

Arsene Wenger faced Media ahead of their Premier League trip to Newcastle this weekend. Here's a briefing of what he said.

Tomas Rosicky aka Little Mozart is fit again
Team News
Tomas Rosicky is back after illness. Jack Wilshere not yet ready. Mathieu Debuchy and Mikel Arteta are still 3 weeks away.
No injuries reported from the Monaco game.

Bowing out against Monaco
We all know the story. Wenger gave his opinion. "We are on a good run and we won the game.
"We are frustrated and disappointed we are out but it was not down to our performance on Tuesday night. It was down to our overall performance. We were a bit unlucky as well because if you look at the number of shots on target that Monaco had over the two games we were more efficient."

Facing Newcastle
St James's park has been a happy hunting ground. Arsenal secured a 1-0 win on last day of 12-13 season to seal top 4 and repeated the scoreline last season during Christmas.
"We have good memories at Newcastle but they are always tight, difficult games. They are in a position where they are not under threat to go down but they are always a motivated crowd and they always play well against us."

Away Goals Rule
Gunners have fallen to this stupid rule twice in past three seasons losing against Bayern and now against Monaco.
"Its two teams that have gone out on away goals that it should be questioned. It is a rule that is outdated. In direct knockout you can be a bit lucky as well. None of the teams apart from Barcelona appear to be that much superior. It should count maybe after extra time. This rule has been created in the sixties. The weight of the away goal is perhaps too big today. I still think you can count it maybe after extra time."

Mertesacker's Comments and Europa League joke
Per sounded different to Wenger when he said Monaco deserved to progress. Arsene responded "I don't listen too much to players who talk too much after the game, after disappointment.
Wenger talked of playing Europa League after being eliminated. He said it was a joke "It was just a little joke that i made in French. It was not mis-translated. I said it as a joke."
He was furious over making mountain out of mole "You cannot joke any more in a press conference. It creates controversy. That's why people don't say anything any more."

League Title, Liverpool and Manchester City
Arsenal are considered to be back in contention for the Title. But Wenger played down (not completely though) the prospects "At the moment we are too far away from Chelsea but we have the opportunity every week to get closer and for that we need positive results from us and negative results from Chelsea."
"Liverpool are in the hunt yes. We are on the neck of Man City but as well behind us we have Man United and them. Its very tight"
"Man City are not in a great run of form but it would be wrong to speculate on their weakness. They are a strong team, they have been ruled out of the title before and come back to win it."

Fatigue and Form
Arsenal are playing week-in week-out for past few weeks. Some players have faded and need rest after last two physically tough games. "I believe West Ham was a very physical game. Some of our players paid for it physically against Monaco." ~ So the rotation policy continues. Sanchez and Koscielny may get breather.

That's all
