Arsenal Presser: Wenger talks Injuries, Özil and Manchester United

Arsene Wenger faced Media ahead of the FA Cup quarter final clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday. Here's a briefing of what he had to say.

Team News and Injuries
Wenger confirmed hamstring injury to new boy Gabriel who is ruled out for 3 weeks. Szczesny and Monreal both will have tests today. Frenchman also confirmed that the Pole is likely to start on Monday if he passes the test ~ we'll know more about them from the training session on Sunday.

On playing Manchester United
Wenger has struggled against the big teams in the recent past. But being in sports, he was obviously optimistic regarding the chances of qualifying "We are confident. We go to Manchester United to qualify and give absolutely everything with hard work and team effort." When asked of poor record against them, he said "I don't believe too much in history. At the moment we are doing very well away from home so it's down to our effort."
Despite of their struggles in the season, Arsene is not taking them lightly "We go there to qualify. I don’t speculate on any weakness of Man Utd."

On Welbeck
Welbz will return to Old Trafford for the first time to play against his former team since his deadline day move. In reply to questions regarding him, Wenger responded "He's very important and has played many, many games. His position is one of the three up front. He is an exceptional footballer who will have a great future here. I'm very, very happy I bought him."

Mesut Ozil
On Mesut Özil
The German has come under unfair criticism by some of the experts. Recently Paul Scholes criticized the World Cup winner for his performances. Arsene rightly defended his player saying "It is not fair. A player like Paul Scholes would have loved to play with Mesut Ozil."
"He has the quality and he works a lot harder than his style of play shows. We are in a job where you have to prove a point, he knows that. He works much harder that his style shows."

On retaining the FA Cup
Arsenal are the defending Champions of the famous old cup which they won after going through a infamous drought of Nine years. Arsene is keen to hold on to it "We are the holders of the FA Cup and we want to keep it. The cup is about giving it all on the day and we'll do that on Monday."

The Rivalry
Both the clubs share a rivalry which intensified on Wenger's introduction as the Arsenal boss! Wenger shared his thoughts regarding the same "It's a special intensity because it's between two teams with a chance of winning. We're focused on the FA Cup. Manchester United have many new players. When I came here I had a stable team who were used to playing with each other."

   That's all.
